Does anyone recognise these blossoms/trees seen in Nonsuch Park in Cheam surrey?
There are three young trees, and one much older (though evidently hollow and on its last legs)
none of the trees has any leaves just now.
I'm no expert but it could be the Purple Trumpet Tree, Tabebuia impetiginosa.
I'm sure someone will either confirm this or give you a correct ID if I'm wrong.
I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of sharpening your first picture. IMG-20120523-00287.jpg
Sorry to contradict you Habdab, but I think this may be the Foxglove tree, Paulownia tomentosa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulownia_tomentosa there is a good picture of the flowers on this link http://www.friendsoftheharrisgarden.org.uk/images/UoRtrees/Paulownia%20tomentosa%20600x800.jpg
