Not sure if this is a beetle larvae or moth. I live near Eastbourne, south coast of the UK and am a keen photographer. Whilst out taking landscape photos saw this huge bug in what i think is called Bedstraw? That sticky plant that when trown sticks to the back of unsuspecting people!
It is around the size of a beer bottle top or 10 pence piece, but looked so fat and full! I found it between a hedgerow and a field full of rape seed whilst trying to photography foxes. The area is called Folkington and I have been unable to identify it as yet. Can you help?
Thanks for the identification! I really want to get a shot of a stag beetle and in this area their are some old copice woods but as yet have been unable to find any! one day in the near future I might see one!
I love Stags too, but they seem so much smaller in the UK these days. Check out this rather odd Hungarian video on youtube.
That is the size I remembered seeing 40 years ago. Not these tiny ones we seem to get now.
