We have just returned from a holiday in the foothills of the Troodos mountains in Cyprus, where we ran a moth trap several times to great success. While we've been able to identify several moths so far using guides that cover the UK or more general Mediterranean wildlife guides, there are still many we can't quite name. Is there a publication that covers the area at all? I'll post some of our finds here, but don't want to inundate you!
Further to my previous post, here are some of the moths.
We think Moth2 could be a Portland Ribbon Wave and Moth6 some kind of Copper Underwing, but don't know about any of the others. I have a few more that I will attach in a separate post.
Hope someone can help!
Moth6: Dark Sword Grass
Moth3/4: Mullein Wave/Brindled Pug
Moth2: Portland Riband Wave
Moth8: Yes, Purple Marbled.
Although, I have little knowledge of any possible confusion species that may exist there, so they may be wrong.
