We found this in our utility room this morning (10/04) and don't know what to do with it. We have never seen one like it before.
We live in Herefordshire countryside.
What is it?
With those dark wing edges it looks like Bombylius major.
It's a fly that mimics a bee. They are very common this time of year. Here is a blog post from the NHM website all about Bee Flies.
I don't think they sting, just let it out of the room into the open air.
