We have found this beetle/catepillar-like bug in our flat about four times over the past three months. Photos attached.
Can anyone help identify it, so we can work out if we have a pest problem? We have found it on our ceramic tiles floor on all four occasions. We live in Edinburgh in case geographic location is a consideration, and our flat is on the fourth floor.
This doesn't look like carpet beetle larva in the strictest sense - this looks more like the larva of Trogoderma granarium, aka the Khapra beetle.
This species is a cosmopolitan pest of grains and that is what it is usually associated with when found in homes. I suspect a contaminated batch of bird seed, or other whole grain product, lurking in one of the kitchen cabinets will prove to be the source of these larvae.
