Re: What I liked most was...

I liked lots about it and now I have had a chance to check out all the information I had stored up on my card I can say it was definitely worth going for me.

I liked the concept and the design and I liked the fact that we all spent half the time peering through perspex at the scientists who were busy peering at things through their microscope ...BWAHAHAHA the tables are turned, now they know what it feels like.  Not enough irony in modern gallery design if you ask me, so loving this one.

In the cocoon I loved the interactive things especially the one that did the categorising of the butterflies.

Re: What did you enjoy most about the cocoon

I liked that entry was timed so there wasnt an overload of people (it was half term!).

I loved the fact that you could save all the info on your barcode to read later because it was all interesting but time was short. As you can see from my username, I like bees and have been looking for a bee identification guide to study the bees in my pollen/nectar patches planted on my farm. I have been studying all 'my saves' this morning and still not finished some 2 hours later. I work at a primary school and I visited Cocoon with my daughter who hopes to study wildfowl and we both agreed that it was inspiring for children to see that their love of wildlife could lead to a career, rather than a hobby. If you tell people that you want to work with animals, they always ask if you want to be a vet!!! The quote at the start by one of the scientists about spending hours watching insects was a case in point.

The combination of exhibits, technology and videos from the scientists engaged most of the children visiting (and so their parents too) When I visit the museum again I will come and revisit - at a quieter time maybe!

As you update areas of the museum, please use the natureplus system as it is a brilliant idea. I love the fact that it then has links to other parts of the museums website as well.

An excellent resource for young and old and worth waiting for your entry time.

    hi Izzywoodworm,

I totally agree with you about the organising of the holiday. it went slightly wrong for me as there were a group of 4-5 year olds brushing past and pressing things on the interactive board meaning that I had to start again a couple of times. other than that I thought it was a brilliant idea and it taught people how these types of trips are organised!

overall I think it was a very well planned.

I liked the cocoon but after reading all these comments i feel like i missed most of it- i didnt see any mummified cats or any of those things the others are talking about XD i didn't have time to watch all the videos but i found some of the interactive activities like the butterfly classification and the mosquito stuff interesting i thought the barcode scanning was pretty cool but i didnt get to see everything because it was quite crowded. I didnt understand the trip planning thing either but i really enjoyed the cocoon it was cool!
