Can anyone help me identify an insect I've found living around one of my hanging baskets?
There's a group of around five of them, and they all have light-coloured bodies (seems to be just as one, no split in the body or seperate head), and very long thin black legs. They also seem to have even longer 'feelers', which they seem to use to get around (so I dont know if they have eyes or not?!).
They do not seem agressive, and just seen to sit in the hanging basket all day! I also think there is possibly a web in there, but this could be from a seperate insect/ spider.....
Apologies if this description seems a bit vague!!
Any help is appreciated,
Apart from the long 'feelers' they sound like harvestmen (also called harvest spiders but they're not true spiders, though they are arachnids)
The second pair of legs of harvestmen is the longest and is packed with sensory organs, so they sort of wave these around ahead of them as they walk, detecting things (inc possible food) in the enviroment around them. It may be these that you took for feelers.
Cheers buddy, I've had a look at some pictures online and it's definately one of them! They all seem to congregate in a hanging basket of daisys I've got, not sure why!!
