Hi there,
I found this dark brown insect, 5mm long, dead on top of my bed cover - my first concern was that it could be a bed bug, due to the location, however from comparing photos it doesn’t have obvious horizontal stripes on its back, instead it looks more like it has several vertical stripes or ridges, (though on the underside there are three horizontal lines towards the tail end). I’m wondering if it’s a type of beetle - my windows have been open so could have flown in. Thanks so much for your help, much appreciated!
Posting a photo may help with the ID.

Sorry my attachments didn’t upload! Have added photos now. Note the first one is the insect upside down, the rest are of its back. Thanks so much for your help.
Thanks for posting the photos. Sadly I can't tell what this is. A beetle, not a bug, obviously, but what species?
Post the specimen to the Museum in a rigid container (matchbox, etc.) and we will send an ID.
