Help with my first moth i/d

hello, I'm new to learning how to identify moths. Here is the first one that I have successfully photographed, assuming that it is a moth! It was seen in a marsh in Geneva canton, Switzerland on Sunday morning. Any help with identifying it would be much appreciated.

Hello Jez, this is slightly reminiscent of a Gypsy moth Lymantria dispar so Family Erebidae

may be as good a place as any to start researching. Good luck!

  It is Ematurga atomaria, called 'common heath' in the UK.
  It is one of the species of moth that flies during the day.
  The species is very variable in appearance, and yours fits well within that range.

    Great ID, Mike (I hadn't found it out anywhere). but now have found similar uk examples in Ispot eg https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/observation/507912/unknown-moth and https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/observation/718489/moth-id-please
    And again https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/species-dictionary/NBNSYS0000006044/ematurga-atomaria/observations shows its variability
    And I'm guessing Jez that your other moth http://www.nhm.ac.uk/natureplus/message/112805 is the same species (or maybe the same individual?)
