These are the mystery items of the natural world. It can be quite a challenge to identify which part of the skeleton a bone belongs to and especially what animal it came from. But teeth, bones and skulls are all commonly found and it is always interesting to find out their origins.
Some of the most difficult specimens to identify are those that have become sub-fossils, or even fully fossilised, as they might have belonged to an animal that is now extinct.
We are scientists who run the Museum's Identification and Advisory Service.
