Myophorella lusitanica fossils, dating back to the Late Kimmeridgian to Early Tithonian eras (Late Jurassic) , approximately 151 million years old, have been found in Portugal.

However, recent collaborative research between the Natural History Museum and the Instituto Geológico y Minero de España have led to new finds of Myophorella lusitanica in rocks in Asturias, northern Spain.
