Taxonomy
Hippochrenes amplus belongs to the superfamily Stromboidea.
Within this group the family Rostellariidae is characterised by the following features:
- very high spire
- well developed rostrum
- prominent posterior canal or channel
- operculum with smooth margin and which fully seals aperture (not fossilized).
