Adults are found in secondary forest and edges of woodland of tropical South America.

Hamadryas feronia is an abundant widespread species found from Texas to Argentina, Southern Brazil and Paraguay. 

  • Hamadryas feronia feronia has been recorded in Guyana, French Guyana, Surinam, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil
  • Hamadryas feronia farinulenta occurs in the USA, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela,Trinidad, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru and Bolivia


Adults have been recorded on road surfaces, vegetation and rotting fruit. This species is located in open forests at elevations from sea level up to 1,500m (Jenkins, 1993; Cassie, 2006).
