Feeding

The few records that do exist for the subfamily Platystomatinae, to which Achias belongs, indicate a variety of larval food preferences within this group. They may be saprophagous, phytophagous or predatory, feeding on decaying vegetable matter, fungi, the immature stages of other insects or the root nodules of leguminous plants. Adult Achias have been observed feeding on sugary liquids, and on faeces.
