Scientists from around the world are collaborating to improve understanding, awareness and treatments of such medical conditions as malaria, schistosomiasis and intestinal worms. But it's not just science that is important. Economics and politics have a huge influence too. To explore these issues we ask, are pharmaceutical companies doing all they can to tackle tropical diseases? With representatives from the pharmaceutical industry and non-governmental organisations this is a lively discussion and debate.
