Monitoring climate change impact in the UK

Watch Paul Eggleton and his team of insect researchers as they monitor the impact of climate change on soil macrofauna in the UK's New Forest.

The project

Paul Eggleton and his team have been sampling soil in the New Forest for the last few years to study the consequences of hotter, drier summers on soil and leaf litter invertebrates.

Soil and leaf litter invertebrates in British woodlands are very important for breaking down litter and incorporating it into the soil and for soil structure.

This 10-year project aims to find out what happens to the biodiversity and abundance of invertebrates over time and to see if a changing climate is having an impact on these factors.
