Mammals have many different strategies to cope with the onset of winter. Some make nests, some sleep underground, others just brave it out. But the bat goes into 'torpor', remaining motionless, allowing its body temperature to fall and slowing its heart-rate to a hundredth of its normal speed. Join Museum photographer and bat expert Frank Greenaway to get a close-up view of the bat's winter survival strategy.
