Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. ex A. Juss.) Müll. Arg. (Euphorbiaceae).
Originally named as a species of Siphonia by the French botanist Antoine de Jussieu in 1824, it was placed in the
genusHevea by Johannes Müller (Argoviensis) of Aargau, Switzerland.
Native to the upper Amazon basin in South America.
Life form: tropical forest tree from lowland rainforest.
Parts used: sap tapped and used to produce rubber.
