DIGITALIS

Digitalis purpurea L. (Scrophulariaceae).

Named by Carolus Linnaeus in 1753 from plants collected in European gardens and woods.

Native to Britain and northern Europe, foxgloves are plants of clearings in woods.

Life form: biennial herb.

Parts used: dried leaves used for the extraction of crude digitalis for the treatment of heart disease.

Ploidy level: diploid.
