The heath bumblebee, Bombus jonellus, is a small species emerging in early spring. It is found throughout Britain but is uncommon in the central and southern lowlands. 

It looks very similar to the more abundant and widespread garden bumblebee, Bombus hortorum, which has a much longer face.
