Introduction
The decorative uses of fossils are numerous, both at the present day and in the prehistoric and historical past. While some of these draw on folklore beliefs about the medicinal or magical properties of the fossils concerned, others have no such connection and simply take advantage of the aesthetic qualities of these durable, naturally-occurring objects.
