Sepia photograph of Wallace's house, Corfe View at Parkstone in Dorset, undated, circa 1889.
Wallace moved to Parkstone, Dorset, in 1889, just after the publication of his book on Darwinism. He lived here at the house called Corfe View. This sepia photograph seems to be of the back of the house. Corfe View was a three-storey brick construction with a conservatory attached and steep gabled attic rooms.
Wallace wrote his book The Wonderful Century while at Corfe View. He lived here with his wife Annie until 1902 when they moved, for the final time, to Broadstone, Dorset.
