Georg Dionysius Ehret is one of the great names
in the history of botanical art with his drawings
providing a major contribution to eighteenth century
botany. He illustrated strange exotic plants, which
had been recently introduced to Europe, from around
the world. In particular he drew unusual plants
that had been carefully grown and nurtured in the
hothouses of wealthy plant enthusiasts.
