Olivia Tonge was born in Glamorgan in 1858. She visited and
lived in India during the years 1908-1910 and 1912-1913. During
this time she drew a wide range of objects that she saw in
the market places together with local plants and animals.
The result was a series of 16 beautiful sketchbooks that also
include her personal observations of India.
