Michael Roberts' artwork is an excellent example of the contribution that artist-naturalists can still make to our understanding of the natural world. His large scale drawings of British spiders were published in two important guide books.

Roberts' accurate drawings of the 650 British species of spiders have done much to encourage naturalists to take up the study of these fascinating animals.
