Self portrait

Believed to be a self-portrait of Sydney Parkinson (c.1745-71).
He was an artist on Captain Cook’s famous voyage of
discovery on HMS Endeavour. He was the first European
to draw the animals, plants and inhabitants of Australia.
Parkinson drew nearly 1,500 pictures before he died at sea
during the return journey.
