In May 1996 the Forum began work on developing a national strategy for systematic biology research (see the national strategy's objectives). This has been the major focus of activity for the Forum since then.
"The Web of Life" a strategy for systematic biology in the UK was launched at the Natural History Museum on 30 November 1998. At the launch there were speeches by Lord Sainsbury, Minister for Science, Sir Robert May, Government Chief Scientist and Steve Blackmore, Chair of the UK Systematics Forum.
The strategy document will be widely distributed to all member of the UKSF and to influential people in British science.
To implement the strategy, the Forum Committee will be establishing working groups to take forward each of the major recommendations.
