Each scientific collection has unidentified samples. It is a problem to identify species, variety, cultivar, etc. without good iconographic pictures. Modern technology is conductive to sending and receiving numerous digital pictures at any point on the planet to be used taxonomically. Our collections, which we made in the Botanical Garden at the Botanical Institute, RAS (Russia) and the Institute of Botany, CAS (China) some years ago can now be joined. In this way we can quickly check a lot of our samples which carry a “sp.” name.

Very helpful for our digital collection are joint fieldtrips in different territories of China (e.g. Inner Mongolia, or the provinces of Hebei, Hainan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Yunnan), visits to different Botanical Gardens (at Beijing, Duzhanjan, Guiyan, Haiko, Shenshen, etc), and National parks (“Songshan’, “Huangguoshu Waterfall”; “Tian Xing Landscape”, “Fan Jing Mountain” etc.).

We resort to the help of specialists in National Herbarium of IBCAS. For further cooperation we to tender thanks to the Special Foundation for International Cooperation of IBCAS during the years of 2004-2006; (http://english.ibcas.ac.cn/info_www/news/detailnewsb.asp?infono=132).
