An increasing number of databases is available on the Web. To make good use of these databases, a user needs to visit each site separately. Integration of these databases is a necessary and urgent task for the global scientific world.
This paper proposes an information technological support for the integration of such web databases. The system we have been constructing analyses the web interface, constructs the metadata for the site, and generates a wrapper to extract content from the search result page obtained from the site. With these methods, we can integrate different web databases with under a uniform interface. In this paper, we examine applying the technology to searchable taxonomic databases.
