If you wish to combine the British Airways deal (see below on this page) with other travel arrangements BTI staff will be pleased to help you. Just mention the "BA deal".
International Air Travel
Discounted international air travel has been negotiated with British Airways (and the oneworld alliance) for the benefit of all delegates, guests, TDWG officials, and relatives or friends travelling with them.
The British Airways offer is restricted as follows:
- Discount will be available to all delegates and conference organisers at variable rates according to the starting point of the journey (country of origin) and the class of travel booked. The following figures are a guide but may vary according to the exact fare and point of origin:
For Bookings made Ex Europe:
10 % discount on all fares (excepting N & V fares)
15 % discount from the full Y (Economy) fare
30% discount from the full C (Business) fare
For Bookings made Ex Row (Rest of the World):
15% discount from all Economy public fares excepting N & V class. Includes World Traveller Plus fares.
20% discount from (J ,C& D) Business class fares
20% discount from (F) First Class fares
So, the actual discount received is less for fares that have already been discounted (e.g. most fares that already have restrictions in return for lower cost).
- The discount is offered (pro-rata as outlined above) at the time of booking on fares available at that time, i.e. no advance reservation is possible, the booking must be completed or the discount cannot be guaranteed.
- These discounts are applicable on confirmed BA Mainline operated flights and all the OneWorld carriers *if* used in conjunction with a BA flight. On an itinerary involving BA and other OneWorld carriers the longest journey must be on BA.
- Miscellaneous restrictions
- No Child/infant discounts apply
- Unaccompanied minors not permitted
- One Ways not permitted
- TICKETS ARE NON REFUNDABLE
- Any further restrictions due to the class of ticket booked continue to apply.
- There is always the possibility that cheaper flights may be available from other airlines because airline special deals and discounts come and go with bewildering frequency and rapidity. British Airways offers no guarantees in this respect and it is the responsibility of the delegate to judge value for money at the time of booking.
Booking Mechanism
British Airways has issued a SPC/Deal number that MUST be quoted at the time of booking and in all communications relating to bookings. To avoid misuse this information is available only by e-mail from the Programme Coordinator (Adrian Rissoné <A.Rissone@nhm.ac.uk>) with TDWG 2004 BA Offer in the subject line.
Bookings can be made only through British Airways Sales Offices in the delegates' home country (a list is available on the British Airways web site at www.ba.com by setting your specific Country of Residence.
One way to do this is to go here:
and choose your country from the list provided.
We are investigating a possible alternative mechanism: a "nominated travel agent" in the United Kingdom may be established to operate in parallel with bookings made through the British Airways Sales Offices. This option is still under evaluation.
