THE SEPTEMBER 19th GOSSIP
(Thanks to Tony Dutton)

One of the best-known characters in the Club - Bill Boorn, delivering his interesting lecture about his personal collection of elderly microscopes and other apparatus, some of which can be seen on the screen.

From the Quekett collection - an R & J Beck "Best No 1" microscope dating from1869, presented by Tony Dutton, Collections Officer.

Fred Price showing his Bausch & Lomb stereo, focussing on one of his fine collection of slides

Eric Hollowday examining under a Quekett Watson Service, a sample of water from one of the NHS garden ponds - and in despair as the water was too clean to reveal much wild life!

A wonderful selection of elderly polarisers and supporting literature from his collection, by Barry Ellam, using a Baker microscope from the Club's collection.

David Blackwood brought along a piece of amber, containing insects, to show under a QMC owned Russian Stereo.

A lovely little Society of Arts design of microscope, showing a flea. This was supported by a copy of the wonderfully accurate drawing of a flea by Robert Hooke, dating to 1664.

Exhibited by Maurice Moss.

Many thanks to Tony Dutton for this excellent report and photographs.
