	Ronald Ochoa informed the acarological communiry that Mr. Robert L. Smiley passed away on New Year's day (2010). Mr. Smiley worked for many years at the USDA on the taxonomy of tarsonemid, cheyletid and cunaxid mites. He started his acarology career under the direction of Dr. Edward W.
