Description:
HABIT: Erect, hairless, losely tufted, perennial herb, up to 2m tall depending on location. STEM(S): Leafy, with upper sheath overtopping leaf. LEAVES: Shiny green, flat, hairless, rough on both margins, broad (up to 18mm), dark purplish-red leaf junctions. INFLORESCENCE: Long, loose panicle, 12-40cm, with slender branches, drooping to one side. SPIKELETS: Numerous, attached to branches in twos or threes, pale-green, 8-13mm, delicate awns, 3-8 florets. FLOWERING PERIOD: July to August.
