Habitat:
Woodlands, hedgerows, parks and gardens.

Distribution:
Common throughout British Isles except Shetlands.

Description:
Often confused with the mistle thrush, this species is smaller and has no white in the tail. Male and female are similar. LENGTH: 23cm. VOICE: Flight call ‘sip’; alarm call ‘tchook-tchook’; song flute-like and repetitive. EGG: Pale blue with black spots.

Natural History:
NEST: The female builds the nest, which is usually placed quite low in a bush, a hedge or in other dense vegetation. It is made from grass, twigs and leaves, lined with mud or wood pulp. REPRODUCTION: Four to five eggs (occasionally 6) are laid between March and June, and are incubated by the female for 11-15 days. The chicks are fed by both parents for 12-16 days. Two or three broods per year. MOVEMENTS: Resident, but moves greatly within the country. European birds arrive in autumn, some passing on southwards whilst some remain.
