Authors

Cally Oldershaw took a degree in geology before joining the Natural History Museum, where she was involved in developing exhibitions in the geological galleries. She continued her studies in mineralogy and gemmology, and qualified as a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (GAGTL). 

Cally is an examiner for the association and the British examiner for the European examinations in gemmology. Now working at the Geological Society, she continues to work as a freelance author, editor and consultant on geoscientific topics. Since 1982 she has been an examiner for the GAGTL, and has actively been involved in their educational programme.

Roger Harding is Director of the GATL, a professional body providing membership, educational outreach and gem testing services. Prior to this post he was curator of gemstones at the Natural History Museum, London from 1972–1990.
