With more than 30 years working in the tourism and museums sectors, Audrey has accumulated business and creative experience working in diverse international settings.
Audrey O'Connell - Head of Planning and Design Consulting
In 2004-05, coinciding with the announcement of the Restless Planet project in Dubai, she assumed responsibility for a new Planning and Design Consulting department at the Museum. The aim was a commercial approach to offering clients consulting services and high quality products reflecting the Museum's range of skills and experience as a centre for science and a major London visitor attraction.
Audrey joined the Museum in 1990 to develop a commercially driven touring exhibitions business. Since 1991, the Museum has toured more than 360 exhibitions to 48 different countries, including every continent but Antarctica. Many of these exhibitions were enhanced through the use of high quality animatronics and Audrey continues to manage the Museum's 18 year business relationship with Kokoro Company Ltd, part of the Sanrio Group.
Outside the Museum, Audrey's work in the international marketplace bridges both the museum and leisure sectors. Audrey sat on the ECSITE (European Network of Science Centers and Museums) Annual Conference Programme Committee from 1999 to 2003 and currently serves on the Museum Committee of IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions). She is a member of the American Museums Association, the National Association of Museum Exhibitions (USA) and the Themed Entertainment Association.
