Entertain your guests in the modern surroundings of the Darwin Centre, home to the Museum's entomology and botany collections.
The Darwin Centre is a dramatic departure from the history and ornamental architecture of our famous Waterhouse Building. Clean lines, airy, light-filled spaces, gleaming surfaces and the curvaceous 8-storey cocoon create a unique and contemporary setting for all manner of private events.
When you hire the Darwin Centre you can have access to 3 fantastic spaces: the atrium, outdoor courtyard and our new Images of Nature art gallery.
The soaring glass atrium is an impressive venue for receptions or seated dinners at the foot of the immense, 8-storey cocoon. For extra drama, we can illuminate the cocoon in an array of bright colours, which creates a real spectacle for arriving guests.
Outside, the Darwin Centre’s beautiful, landscaped courtyard is perfect for drinks receptions. It has a small amphitheatre and its own gated entrance, screened from the road by a copse of silver birch trees.
With their west-facing aspect, the atrium and courtyard catch plenty of sunshine on summer evenings, and as dusk falls, pea lights illuminate the steps of the amphitheatre adding to the magical atmosphere.
Next door, Images of Nature is the Museum’s new permanent art gallery. With its unique combination of illustrations, microscopic scans and exhibits it is a unique backdrop for drinks and canapés, or dinners for up to 80 guests.
By hiring Images of Nature together with the Darwin Centre atrium and courtyard you'll get access to 3 flexible and complementary venues, which are ideal for hosting a range of special events.
Dinner 50–150 guests
Cocktail receptions 100–350 guests
