The Museum is a popular place to volunteer, especially if you're interested in natural history. We have over 400 active volunteers in many diverse roles, including a small number of internships.

V Factor

We're looking for volunteers aged 18+ who can give 1 day a week for 10 weeks to work in our Specimen Preparation Area in the Cocoon.

Work experience

Our Work experience programme for students in Year 10 up to 18 year olds has relaunched. The next placements are for:

  • Easter from 31 March - 13 April 2012
  • Summer half term from 4 - 8 June 2012
