Thank you to all our volunteers

We join the nationwide Volunteers' Week celebration, 1-7 June, in saying a big thank you to all our volunteers for their wonderful support. During the week we host our annual volunteer party. The Museum has over 450 active volunteers in many diverse roles, including a small number of internships and work experience students.

V Factor - from visitor to volunteer

V Factor

We are now offering places for our 2013 V Factor volunteer sessions, helping to collate our Thomas Combers diatom collection. And see our V Factor volunteers and scientists in action in the Specimen Preparation Area on Thursdays. See corals which V Factor volunteers helped clean in 2012 on display.

Work experience

The next Work experience placements for students in Year 10 up to 18 year-olds are for these periods:

  • Summer half term (25 May - 2 June) placements are advertised in March/April.
  • Summer holiday (24 July - 2 September) placements are advertised in April/May.
  • October half term (27 October - 4 November) placements are advertised in August.
  • Christmas and New Year holiday (22 December - 6 January) placements are advertised in November.
