Our Patron

We are honoured that HRH The Duchess of Cambridge became Patron of the Natural History Museum on 19 April 2013.

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge has described herself as someone who cares passionately about the natural world and what the Museum stands for. We look forward to her support and future involvement with the Museum.

The Duchess opened the Museum’s Treasures Cadogan Gallery last November and also accompanied the Duke of Cambridge to Borneo, where they met Museum scientists researching rainforest biodiversity.

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, now Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge, was born in Berkshire and attended Marlborough College. The Duchess studied at the British Institute in Florence before enrolling at the University of St Andrews in Fife to study History of Art.

Her Royal Highness married His Royal Highness Prince William at Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011. She first met The Duke of Cambridge at university.

On 19 April 2013, St James’s Palace announced the Duchess’s patronage of three charities, one of which is the Natural History Museum. She is now patron of 10 charities.
