The Directors’ Group

Our Directors embody the Museum’s spirit for discovery and learning. From overseeing the critical relaunch of London Zoo, through to publishing important research papers on tropical diseases and piloting new learning and welfare programmes, each is a proven innovator in their professional field. All inspire both staff and visitors by their example.

The Directors’ Group is responsible for running the Museum under the leadership of the Director of the Museum, who is appointed by the Board of Trustees. The Director of the Museum is the Accounting Officer for the purposes of reporting to the Government via the Board of Trustees and has their delegated responsibility for the general administration of the Museum.

Mr David Thorpe - Head of Risk and Assurance has a non-executive role in the Director's Group providing input on governance, risk and control issues.

The Museum maintains a register of interests for the Directors to identify any potential conflict of interests.
