These are exciting times for the Museum. There have been great accomplishments – most notably the completion of the first phase of the Darwin Centre – and much planning for the future. At a time of rapid scientific advance, and the development of challenging new ways of exhibiting and communicating, it is vital that the Museum has a clear sense of direction.

Our new Ten Year Vision points the way forward. In it, we recognize the level of excellence we must achieve, and emphasize our commitment to sharing our knowledge with a wide audience, both in this country and around the world. We realize that information technology has extraordinary potential to help us achieve this aim. We also see a role for the Museum in public debates on topical issues where our specialist scientific knowledge qualifies us to comment.
