Our scientific work is grouped into six multidisciplinary research themes...

Human and animal health: the biomedical sciences theme
Recording and explaining the taxonomy, molecular diversity, distribution and ecology of various organisms detrimental to human and animal health.
Origins and history of the Earth: the Earth materials, history and processes theme
Studying the properties and relationships of minerals, meteorites, rocks and fossils to further our understanding of the origin and history of the Earth.
Ecology and conservation: the ecological patterns and processes theme
Investigating the distributions of organisms in space and through time and the processes by which these ecological patterns are generated.
