He was Registrar of the Supreme Court in 1899, then Acting Treasurer and Clerk to the Supreme Council in 1900, full from 1903 to retirement in 1917, after which he was a regular confidant of the Rajah (as documented in the National Archives at Kew). Beneficiary of £200 in Charles Brooke's will.
