Research interests
- Systematics and phylogeny of cyclophyllidean cestodes, with special emphasis on the families Paruterinidae, Metadilepididae, Dilepididae and Progynotaeniidae.
- Cestode life cycles.
Current activities
- Taxonomic revision of the cestode superfamily Paruterinoidea (Paruterinidae and Metadilepididae).
- Diversity of Neotropical cestodes from birds, with an emphasis on newly collected materials from Costa Rica and Paraguay.
- Phylogenetic interrelations of cyclophyllidean cestode families (based on morphological data and molecular sequences).
- The family Progynotaeniidae: taxonomy, phylogeny and coevolution with charadriiform birds.
- Role of brine shrimps of the genus Artemia in the life cycles of avian cestodes.
- Evolution of cestode life cycles.
